Terms of service

Last updated 6 August 2026

These terms cover your use of Permit Verdict. They are written to be read, not to be impressive. By subscribing you agree to them.

What you are buying

A subscription gives you a private web page showing building permits for one metro area and one trade, read live from that city's official open-data portal each time you open it, filtered to the trade and price range for that territory.

Two tiers:

Territories are first come, first served. An exclusive holder closes both tiers for that territory. A shared subscriber closes only the exclusive tier — we cannot honestly sell exclusivity over a feed somebody already receives. Availability shown on the site is accurate at the moment it is displayed.

What we do not promise about the data

This is the most important section, so it is in plain language.

Permit records are created and published by cities, not by us. We do not warrant that the data is complete, accurate, current, or fit for any particular decision. Specifically:

Use this as a lead on where to look, not as a substitute for your own diligence. Nothing here is legal, financial, or professional advice.

Billing, cancellation and refunds

Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance through Stripe and renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel yourself at any time from the billing portal linked at the bottom of your feed page — no email to us, no notice period, no retention call.

We do not offer refunds. You can cancel at any time to stop future charges, and we would rather you cancelled a feed that is not earning its keep than kept paying for it. If something on our side was broken, tell us and we will make it right — that is a different thing from a refund policy, and we mean it.

Access ends when the subscription ends and your feed link stops working at that point. Prices may change; existing subscribers get at least 30 days' notice by email before any increase applies to them.

Your link, and using the service fairly

Your feed lives at a private link. It is your credential — anyone with it can see your feed, so keep it to your business. Sharing it publicly, or reselling, redistributing or systematically republishing the feed, ends the subscription without a refund.

You may use the data in your own business freely — call the owners, bid the jobs, build it into your own workflow. What you may not do is stand up a competing product on top of it or scrape the service beyond normal use.

We may suspend or end a subscription for abuse, for attempts to circumvent territory limits, or where required by law. If we end it for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund the unused part of the month despite the paragraph above.

Liability

The service is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for lost profits, lost business, or missed opportunities. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as permitted.

Practicalities

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stands. We may update these terms; material changes will be emailed to active subscribers, and the date at the top will change.

Anything here you want explained before you buy, ask: support@permitverdict.com. We would rather answer a question than take a payment somebody regrets.
